Manifold Collectors – The TDC way

There has been a lot of discussion lately about our new line of turbo manifolds.  Aside from superior workmanship, higher quality welds, and better materials, what sets them apart from the competition?

-We believe that a quality manifold starts with quality parts.  TDC uses ALL 304SS parts in our manifolds.  Unlike competitors who use mild steel flanges to cut cost, we chose to use only the best!  On our manifolds, you’ll find only Stainless Steel Flanges, right down to the wastegate flanges.

-What about the collectors?  Collector design and manufacturing is the most labor and time intensive part of a manifold.  It’s also where the power is made.  A poorly designed, and then poorly flowing manifold collector will result in less than optimal performance.

-The vast majority of our competitors choose to use pre-made collectors for their manifolds.  While this is GREAT for profit margins and productivity, a one-size-fits-all collector is not the best option for power output.  This is the reason that we’ve decided to build all of our collectors in-house, and tailor them to the intended purpose of the manifold.  You’ll see that each manifold design uses a slightly varied collector layout, and each one is hand built by our in-house fabricator!

Each collector starts life as a 3 foot section of Sch 10 304 SS tubing.  After the collector is designed, the tubing is measured, cut, and the collector begins to take shape.  This is the first half of a B series Honda Ramhorn Collector.

After the two halves are made, they are tacked together, then welded at one time to the flange.

Here are a few pictures of the finished product.
